Stores in Mannheim

One of the most confusing things once I got to Mannheim was trying to figure out where to buy things. I’ll know exactly what I need, but where in the world do I get it? There’s no Walmart or large supermarket here. You have to know where to go.

Here are a list of recommended stores, from what I’ve experienced.

Food

1. Netto (dirt cheap, fruit and veggies might not be the freshest)
2. Lidl (a step above Netto)
3. Penny (similar to Lidl)
4. Rewe (a bit pricier, cleaner)
5. Aroma (ethnic store near the Ulmenweg dorms – better and fresher selection of fruits and veggies at cheap prices)
6. Various Chinese, Turkish, Middle Eastern ethnic stores (ex. Abone in H1, Kim Ha in Kaiserring 10, etc)

Electronics

1. Saturn (like Best Buy)

Home Goods

1. Woolsworth (cheap stuff)
2. Kik
3. IKEA (very far via public transport, only go if you can find a local friend to drive you)
4. BAUHAUS (like Home Depot)

Sports Goods

1. engelhorn Sports

Clothing

1. PRIMARK
2. ZARA
3. H&M
4. C&A
5. Bershka
6. So many more…

Other

1. KAUFHOF (like HUDSON BAY/Sears)
2. dm (like Shoppers Drug Mart/Walgreens)
